Remtek Students gets behind Learning Disability Awareness Week 2022
Did you know there are currently 1.5 million people living with a learning disability in the UK?
Mencap describes a learning disability as ‘a reduced intellectual ability and difficulty with everyday activities – for example household tasks, socialising or managing money – which affects someone for their whole life.
People with a learning disability tend to take longer to learn and may need support to develop new skills, understand complicated information and interact with other people.’
Mencap’s annual Learning Disability campaign is all about making sure the world hears what life is like for individuals who have a learning disability and this year’s theme is ‘Living Life with a Learning Disability’
Here at Remtek Systems we’re helping students with learning disabilities and difficulties to get the most out of their education by supplying assistive technology, assistive technology training and ergonomic assessments and equipment.
We are supporting students like you in reaching their full potential. Check out our resources for more information or reach out to our admin team on 0161 745 8353 or at admin@remtek-online.co.uk.
Thomas Jackson on Learning Disability Awareness Week 2022
“I firmly believe that disability awareness should be undertaken by everybody at some point in their life. Having an understanding of disabilities and how it can affect a person with them, allows us to better understand how to help, their thought process, or what to say in certain situations.
Not all disabilities are visual to the outside perspective, with our disability awareness training, all Remtek employees are mindful when interacting with our clients. As assistive technology trainers we are able to help pinpoint how to effectively manage where your disability is affecting your studies.”
John Farrar on Learning Disability Awareness Week 2022
“Remtek Systems has been leading the industry for many years now on the supply of and training in assistive technology for students with learning disabilities. This year’s theme is the perfect opportunity to see how individuals living with such disabilities engage with their friends, family, communities and studies.
Our research over the years has enabled us to develop a unique training programme that supports trainers in communicating with and making recommendations for a range of learning disabilities. The feedback below showcases the success that we are having in this field and how we might be able to help you go further on your learning journey.”

Research and Learning Disability Awareness Week 2022
We read with interest about Dr Carla Barrett’s (Head of Research and Impact Mencap) ‘Big Learning Disability Survey 2022 project which offers individuals the opportunity to share their experiences of what everyday life is like if you have a learning disability.
Mencap’s Big Learning Disability Survey 2022 is open now until the end of July for people with a learning disability in the UK and we’re encouraging as many individuals with learning disabilities to get involved to support this evidence-led organisation in improving its ‘Big Plan’, which launched over a year ago.
Help Mencap celebrate Learning Disability Week 2022 by sharing something about your life. What do you want to tell the world? What do you love? What do you want to change? What are you proud of? What are you worried about?
